Darren gained his Bronze Medallion in 1986 as a member of our growing and successful boat section.  He continued to upskill in this area by learning how to sweep under the guidance of Ray Howe (senior).  His patrol service was enhanced by gaining his IRB Drivers qualification and this has been a hallmark of Darren’s continued and highly reliable commitment to this club.

In 2013 Darren (with the valuable support of his wife Cynnie) took on the Junior Activities Co-Ordinator role and was instrumental in seeing this section of the club develop and thrive for a number of seasons.  He also agreed to become our Club Licensee in 2016– 2022.  Such is his desire to see our club financially viable and growing stronger.  Along the way, Darren has also held the role of Secretary and a Patrol Captain.  

A highly regarded and popular long-serving member, Penguin SLSC is indebted to Darren’s (and Cynnie’s) past and on-going service.
